◆第2回足尾に緑を育てて、森と川の再生を！

概要：渡良瀬川の源流に位置する足尾町松木地区は、足尾銅山の煙害により荒廃し、国や県などの関係機関による復旧事業が約100年前から続けられてきました。こうしたなかで、渡良瀬川上流と下流の市民活動グループが集まり、1996年に「足尾に緑を育てる会」を結成し、松木地区で植樹活動を開始しました。以来、子どもたちの体験植樹や各種団体による植樹活動が盛んにおこなわれてきました。今年は足尾銅山が閉山して50年目に当たります。今回の講座では、はじめに、わが国近代化発展に貢献した足尾銅山の”光”と渡良瀬川鉱毒事件や大規模な森林破壊を引き起こした”影”の歴史をお話しします。そして、植樹を通して、環境を守ることの大切さ、困難さを学んでいただきたく、当会の活動実績と課題、今後の活動方針などをお話しします。
