◆第3回　ビルマ（ミャンマー）を彩るナショナリズムの特徴―「否定の論理」にもとづく「われわれ」意識

概要：国軍の強圧的な政策にみられるように、独立後のビルマ（ミャンマー）では、ある段階から明確に「排他的ナショナリズム」ともいえるような特徴が露呈されてきた。その根源は歴史的にどこまでさかのぼれるのだろうか。解答の提示は容易ではないが、英領期の1930年代に活動したタキン党の思想と行動を通じて、ヒントを見出すことは可能である。それは特定の対象を「否定する」ことを通じて「われわれ」意識を醸成しようとする思想様式である。本来なら「われわれは～である」という表現で自己規定すべきところを、「われわれは～ではない」という論理を通じて規定していくこのやり方は、結果的に排他性を強く帯びることになる。講義ではタキン党の事例を見ながら、20世紀ビルマのナショナリズムに埋め込まれた特徴を「否定の論理」として特色づけ、共に考えてみることにしたい。
