◆第6回 近代沖縄女性史の結末・「集団自決」

概要：沖縄戦初頭の1945年3月、上陸した米軍を目の当たりに、親族のより「力」のある者が弱い者から先に手にかけ、多くの女性・子どもの犠牲をうんだ。いわゆる「集団自決」である。住民の米軍への投降を阻止するため、「敵に捕まると女は強姦される」と恐怖心を植え付けた日本軍による死の強要であった。家父長制下の日本女性の「性道徳」とされた〝死の選択〟が、なぜこの沖縄に集中したのか。「同化政策」にまみえた近代沖縄女性史をひもとき、その背景について考える。
