概要：「生活からの壊憲」を代表するものが、「世帯主」という名の戸主を中心とした「新・家制度」だ。背景には、虚構の「夫セーフティネット」による女性扶養を前提とした「家計補助論」による女性の低賃金の横行がある。戦前の戦争できる国づくりは、「家」制度を通じて社会保障を女性の無償労働に丸投げする仕組みが支えた。これを呼び戻そうとする宗教右派の試みと男女平等へ向けた女性たちの動きの綱引きとしての戦後と軍拡時代のいまを、大手紙記者としての労働・ジェンダー取材から振り返る。
