概要：現在、世界の動植物約100万種が絶滅の危機にあるとされており、生物多様性の保全とその実用的なモニタリング手法の確立が喫緊の課題となっています。近年の深層学習を活用した画像解析技術の進歩は目覚ましく、モバイル端末から得られた画像データの解釈を自動化することで、効率的な現地データ収集のブレイクスルーになる可能性を秘めています。今回のお話では、演者がこれまで取り組んできたスマートフォンアプリによる生物モニタリングの事業を紹介し、関連する分野を要説することで、生物多様性と経済社会の今後の関係性について考察を行います。
