◆第3回帝国陸海軍の戦後史③ 軍人恩給の復活過程

概要：帝国陸海軍の解体を目指した対日非軍事化政策は、組織や人員等の物理的な解体にとどまらず、退役後の兵士や遺家族の生活保障にも大きな影響を及ぼした。本講義では、軍人恩給復活過程について、その存廃をめぐる関係勢力の議論を中心に、内在する問題や画期性を検討する。軍人恩給の復活とは、単なる制度の「戦前回帰」ではなく、恩給制度自体に起因する不平等や不均衡を改めて再編・固定化した措置であり、旧軍人及びその遺族の受給者にとって大きな不満をもたらした。それゆえ、軍人恩給の復活以後、改善措置を求める旧軍人団体の大規模な政治運動を展開させていく〈軍人恩給をめぐるパラドクス〉を創出させたことが、真の意味での「画期性」であったことを指摘する。
