講師：川満彰（沖縄研究者）
概要：1879年、初代県令鍋島直彬を始め大和人(ヤマトゥンチュ)官吏らが見た沖縄は異文化であり、低俗な沖縄人(ウチナーンチュ)だった。鍋島らは「言語・風俗をして本州と同一ならしむる」とし、言語の標準化を推し進めるとともに、全国にさきがけて天皇の写真・御真影を奉遷した。日清戦争後、沖縄人も大和人となるため徴兵制を要望するようになり、いつしか戦場へと向かうようになる。そして琉球処分から66年後、皇土となった沖縄で地上戦が始まった。沖縄人が自ら進んで兵士となった流れをみてみよう。
