講師：桜井均（映像ジャーナリスト・元ＮＨＫディレクター／プロデューサー）
概要：アメリカは、爆心地の映像や被爆者の傷病の実相を詳細に調査し、そのデータを大量に持ち帰った。次なる核戦争を前提としたものである。
原爆が投下された瞬間の爆心地の映像は存在しえない。GHQは日本人が原爆に関する記録を残すことや文章を書くことを禁止し、言論統制を徹底した。そして、投下直後の日本ニュースの映像や、「原爆傷害調査委員会」（ABCC＝Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission）が収集した医学情報、そして、のちに評論家となった医学博士加藤周一らが属していた「日米原子爆弾影響合同調査団」の結果をアメリカに持ち帰ったのである。そのため、日本人の多くが原爆の実相を知らなかった。なかでも、映像が返還されたのは1967年であった。
同じころ、原爆を投下したB29の機長らは、その軍事的な効果を調査するために、爆心地長崎を訪れ、詳細な視察をしていたことがわかった。
