概要：戦後ドイツの中東政策は、西独が親イスラエル、東独が親アラブという「分業」で成り立っていました。1949年、対占領ドイツ高等弁務官ジョン・マックロイは、戦後（西）ドイツにとってユダヤ人との関係は「民主主義の試金石」と述べましたが、冷戦状況下で「親ユダヤ主義」は反共主義と表裏一体でした。1980年代後半の「歴史家論争」は、ホロコーストの「比較不可能性」を神聖化してしまいました。
